The Vancouver Island Military Museum, incorporated in 1986, is dedicated to providing not only a visual history of Canada's military heritage, but a reminder of the sacrifices made by the men and women of Canada's Armed Forces in conflicts all over the world. While we honour our veterans of past wars, we also remember our military personnel serving abroad and those lost in current overseas' operations. The museum, located in Nanaimo North Centre Mall, is open six days a week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is by donation. The staff are a dedicated group of volunteers. Many of whom are ex-servicemen who give of their time to ensure the residents of our community have an opportunity to remember and reflect on the courage and dedication of Canada's Armed Forces The Museum receives financial assistance from its members, the general public, various Royal Canadian Legion branches throughout central Vancouver and from the government of British Columbia. It is entirely staffed by volunteers and has no paid employees. Vancouver Island Military Museum is a member of the Organization of Military Museums of Canada and the B.C. Museums Association.
