The Artifical Reef Society of British Columbia, along with the Provincial and Federal government's, Dive Shop Owners and many volunteers have joined forces to create arguably one of the best regions in the world for the establishment of artificial reefs. To date there are four destroyer escorts that have been sunk off the coastline of Southern British Columbia. The first was the HMCS Chaudiere in Sechelt Inlet, the second was the HMCS MacKenzie off Sidney on Vancouver Island, the third was the HMCS Columbia situated just north of Campbell River, and the latest addition to the fleet the HMCS Saskatchewan just off the eastern side of Snake Island near Nanaimo. Below is various pictures of the Destroyers as they were being stripped , moored, or sunk in British Columbia waters.
