LIONS CLUB of   Parksville Zone 19-I-7 Email: We welcome your questions and comments. Lion's Venture Land Playground "Venture Land" is the name of the Parksville Community playground. It was taken over from the city as a Lion's Club playground project in 1985. Today the Lion's club still has the playground as an on going project and is in total charge of all maintenance.  The first big project was the massive pole structure called the "Jungle Gym".  Jungle Gym completed. Circular belt swing. The steel post used came from an old Imperial Esso sign, and the spindles on top are from Lion Louis Borsboom's old 1954 Fargo pickup truck. Catalogue playground prices were out of question, so we came up with ideas and former Lion Rick Sheppard's brother who is an architect, took those ideas and put them on a set of architectural drawings. We presented this to council and on their approval we started and the project hasn't stopped since.  Baby chair merry go round. Made from the same source of materials as the circular belt swing. All welding on both these rides, the ship, the aeroplane, toy digger, tire spinner and more was done by Lion Louis Borsboom. In 1990 we installed the hooded climber with slides.
